Initiated by the painter Bazaine and supported by André Lejard, an exhibition entitled “Vingt jeunes peintres de tradition française” took place from 10 May 1941 at the Braun gallery in Paris and brought together a group of artists including André Beaudin, Paul Berçot, Jean Bertholle, Francisco Bores, Lucien Coutaud, François Desnoyer, Léon Gischia, Charles Lapicque, Jean Lasne, Lucien Lautrec, Raymond Legueult, Jean Le Moal, Alfred Manessier, André Marchand, Édouard Pignon, Suzanne Roger, Gustave Singier, Pierre Tal Coat and Charles Walch. Maurice Estève was included in this group of painters but none of his works were currently presented.
